The history of the amateur radio in Sevastopol in the pre-war and post-war periods, the development of high-speed radiotelegraphy in Sevastopol and the Crimea is presented, a description of the life path of the USSR champion in VHF radio communication in the 1970s, Yuli Evgenievich Cherkasov (1935-2007) and other participants is given. The article is illustrated with photographs of the participants.
