DEVELOPMENT OF CUCUMBER PLANT IN VITRO ON EARLY GROWTH STAGES UNDER CONDITIONS OF PHOTORESPIRATOR STRESS

Abstract (English):
The development of the cucumber plant was studied in the early stages of growth in sealed glass vessels, starting with seedlings developing from internal resources, stored in the seed, in the absence of soil, in limited volumes of air, distilled water (DW) or water activated by microwave discharge plasma (VAP). VAP was obtained by continuous treatment of DW with a stream of microwave argon plasma within 30 minutes in an open atmosphere. At a microwave power of 0.9 kW, the Argon plasma temperature is ~4000oK. VAP was an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide with a concentration of [H2 O2] = 4 × 10-3 M and nitrogen oxides with a concentration of [NOx] ≈ 7×10-4 M; does not contain foreign impurities in the form of metal oxides, etc. Experimental conditions are constant: temperature 20 оC, lighting light/dark 12/12 hours. The vessels were not opened for 40. It was shown that plants grown on the Far East survived up to a maximum of 15 days, while those grown on VAP with a dilution of 100 and 500 times increases the lifespan by ~3 times. VAP promotes the rapid accelerated development of plants, increases the volume of green mass, life expectancy serves as a source of oxygen and nitrogen as an additional source of oxygen and nitrogen in relation to DV. VAP diluted by a factor of 10: with [H2 O2] = 10- 4 M blocks plant growth. Comparison of the weight of dry seeds and the weight of dried plants at the end of the experiment showed that the main source for the growth and development of plants in a closed volume was the carbon stored in the seed itself.
